TECHNICAL SPEC DRAWING TUTORIAL: THE BASICS

Megan Williams (@meganwilliams_design) has put together an easy guided to creating your technical space drawings using Illustrator! In this tutorial, she teaches you how to create this jacket CAD, follow along using the written instructions and videos in this post!
" 1- Put image you want to draw into adobe illustrator and lock the image
2- Use the pen tool to draw a line down the centre of your image
3- Use the pen tool to draw the outline of one side of the garment
4- Use the direct selection tool to select the anchor point and convert to a curve to ensure a smooth line
5- If needed use the anchor point tool to adjust any lines which are out of place
6- Add in any details like stitch lines by changing the stroke of the line
7- Once you have drawn one side of the garment highlight all of your lines and reflect to ensure a symmetrical flat drawing
8- Continue to finish the drawing by adding other features like belts, buttons and fastenings
9- To add more detail add more lines and change the thickness and shape of the stroke 10- To create a button shape use the ellipse tool
11- Unlock the image and delete to reveal your amazing flat drawing!
12- Highlight your drawing and group your lines together to make one object🖋
